On 4 June 2009 the Council of Europe in cooperation with the National TV and Radio Council will hold the conference on “Regulation of Online Media in Azerbaijan” in Afurja room of the Excelsior Hotel.
Participants of the Conference will be representatives of Presidential Administration of AR, Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies, National TV and Radio Council, as well as members of Milli Majlis, employees of online and offline media, and representatives of the Council of Europe and other international organisations and embassies accredited in Azerbaijan.
The social, cultural and technological changes currently taking place in the world are broadly reflected in media. Appearance of new communication services and media are the reason of new challenges in these spheres. These new means bring in both big possibilities and potential threats which need still to be investigated.
The conference will attempt to form the space for dialogue, to bring together various interested parties and to find the ways of application and integration of democratic values and principles. The conference will also make an effort to answer the question, if there is a need in special standards and regulation mechanisms in this field.
The conference will start its work at 09:00 and will continue up to 17.30. Please note that the working languages of the event will be English and Azerbaijani.
